The key moment occurred in the thirteenth over of West Indies’ innings, shortly after Kyle Mayers was dismissed by Tabraiz Shamsi’s crafty spin bowling. Bringing Keshav Maharaj into the attack proved to be a brilliant move by Aiden Markram. The experienced left-arm spinner soon removed Powell.

In the third over of his spell, Maharaj conceded three singles before delivering a sharp-turning ball to dismiss Powell. Bowling from over the wicket, Maharaj flighted the delivery, which turned sharply and beat Powell’s drive. Although Powell was momentarily out of his crease, Proteas wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock swiftly collected the ball and dislodged the bails, securing the wicket.

Following Powell’s dismissal, the Windies struggled further, losing two more quick wickets as Shamsi left them at 97 for six. At the time of writing, West Indies were 118 for six, fighting to achieve a respectable finish.
