Suryakumar Yadav’s spectacular catch became the pivotal moment in India’s thrilling seven-run win over South Africa at Kensington Oval, Barbados. His crucial dismissal of David Miller turned the tide in India’s favor and stood out as the match-winning highlight.

In a memorable recount, Suryakumar Yadav vividly described the split-second decision-making that led to the remarkable catch. “Rohit bhai usually isn’t positioned at long-on, but he was there at that moment. As the ball came towards me, I glanced at him, and he glanced back. I sprinted with the sole intention of making the catch. If Rohit had been closer, I would have thrown the ball to him, but he wasn’t nearby. I can’t explain what happened in those four to five seconds.”
Reflecting on the tense moment, Suryakumar emphasized his awareness of the boundary rope. “When I pushed the ball up and grabbed it, I was certain I hadn’t touched the rope. My only concern was ensuring my feet didn’t touch the boundary line when I flicked the ball back inside. I knew it was a clean catch. Looking back, anything could have happened. If it had gone for a six, the equation would have been tighter with five balls and ten runs required. We might still have won, but it would have been much closer.”
India’s victory in this match paved the way for their ICC T20 World Cup triumph, marking their second T20 title under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy and their first in 13 years.
