Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad couldn’t contain his delight at the news of the Super Kings Academy expanding its footprint in Chennai with the inauguration of two new state-of-the-art centers. Strong academy cricket laid a strong foundation for Gaikwad’s success, and he emphasizes the importance of this initial phase for shaping young cricketers’ careers.
Gaikwad enthusiastically spoke about the significance of academy cricket, highlighting how these facilities provide budding players with a nurturing environment to hone their skills, learn from experienced coaches, and gain valuable playing experience. He believes the Super Kings Academy will not only equip aspiring cricketers with cricketing knowledge and techniques but also foster lasting friendships and create cherished memories for them.
The new academies boast impressive facilities. The one situated at the Sri Ramachandra Medical College offers eight pitches, including turf, AstroTurf, and indoor nets, all equipped with floodlights for extended training sessions. Similarly, the academy at Guru Nanak College features a variety of pitches, including turf, matting, and concrete surfaces, along with floodlighting.
Cricket coaching sessions for both boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 23 are scheduled to commence in April at both locations. CSK Cricket Limited CEO, K.S. Viswanathan, expressed his elation about extending their reach within Chennai. His vision is to provide top-quality coaching and infrastructure to nurture the next generation of cricketing talent, not just in Chennai, but across Tamil Nadu.
