Sri Lanka has made a strategic move by appointing legendary English batter Ian Bell as their batting coach for the ongoing tour of England. Bell, a former England cricketer renowned for his impeccable technique and stroke play, brings a wealth of experience to the Sri Lankan team.

Bell’s appointment will significantly bolster the Lankan batting lineup as they face the challenging English conditions. Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) officially announced his role through a press release, confirming that Bell will join the team on August 16 and remain with them until the series concludes.

SLC CEO Ashley De Silva emphasized the importance of having Bell on board, stating, “We appointed Ian Bell to bring in a person with local knowledge to help the players with key insights on the conditions there. Ian has a lot of experience playing in England, and we believe his inputs will help our team in this crucial tour.”

During Ian Bell’s illustrious Test career for England, he scored 7,727 runs in 118 matches at an average of 42.69, including 22 centuries. Moreover, his deep knowledge and understanding of English pitches will be invaluable to the Sri Lankan team.

Sri Lanka’s England tour features three Test matches, beginning in Manchester. The series will then move to Lord’s for the second game, with the final match set to take place at The Oval. Bell’s insights will be crucial as Sri Lanka looks to perform well in this high-stakes series.
