Jeffrey Vandersay took down Shubman Gill and Shivam Dube in the same over during the 2nd ODI between Sri Lanka and India on August 4, 2024, in Colombo. Vandersay had an excellent performance, finishing with career-best figures of 6 for 33.

Sri Lanka has named uncapped right-arm seamer Milan Rathnayake and fast-bowling all-rounder Nisala Tharaka in an 18-member squad for the three-match Test series against England later this month. This marks a first call-up for 33-year-old Tharaka, who has played 107 first-class games, taken 257 wickets, and scored 2358 runs with a top score of 107. Rathnayake, 28, previously selected for Sri Lanka’s Test squad against Afghanistan, has yet to play. He has taken 79 wickets and scored 633 runs in 39 first-class matches.
Dhananjaya de Silva will captain the team, with Kusal Mendis as vice-captain. The squad is pace-heavy, featuring Asitha Fernando, Vishwa Fernando, Kasun Rajitha, Lahiru Kumara, Tharaka, and Rathnayake. Spin duties will be handled by Vandersay, Ramesh Mendis, and Prabath Jayasuriya.
The Test series against England starts on August 21 in Manchester. Following this, the teams will move on to the second Test at Lord’s on August 29. Finally, the series will conclude with the third Test at The Oval on September 6.
