In a surprising turn of events, South Africa secured their first-ever women’s ODI victory over Australia in Sydney. Led by Marizanne Kapp’s exceptional all-round skills, South Africa clinched an 84-run victory on the DLS Method, capitalizing on Australia’s dropped catches and batting collapse.

Australia, known for their dominance at the North Sydney Oval since 2009, faced a rare defeat as they failed to chase down South Africa’s revised target of 234 runs from 45 overs due to rain interruptions.
Despite Australia’s earlier win in the series opener, South Africa’s determined effort, spearheaded by Kapp’s crucial contributions with both bat and ball, turned the tables in the second ODI.
Kapp’s impactful performance included a vital knock of 75 runs and key wickets, including the dismissals of Alyssa Healy, Phoebe Litchfield, and Beth Mooney.
Although Australia’s Ashleigh Gardner and Kim Garth showcased resilience with a record-breaking ninth-wicket partnership, their efforts fell short, leaving Australia trailing with a total of 149 runs.
