Indian batter Smriti Mandhana is on the brink of overtaking Australia’s Beth Mooney to claim the No. 1 spot in the ICC Women’s T20I Batting Rankings. Currently ranked second with 753 points, Mandhana is just four points behind Mooney (757). Already No. 2 in the ICC Women’s ODI Batting Rankings, Mandhana’s consistent performances highlight her exceptional form.

Mandhana’s latest brilliance came during the third T20I against West Indies, where she smashed 77 off 43 balls. Leading the team in Harmanpreet Kaur’s absence, she demonstrated her class, guiding India to a massive 217-run total. She scored her third consecutive half-century of the series, showcasing her ability to dominate in challenging conditions.
Her performance notably included an extraordinary sequence of seven consecutive boundaries off Chinelle Henry and Deandra Dottin. Furthermore, Mandhana reached her fifty in just 27 balls, breaking Suzie Bates’ long-standing world record for the most 50+ scores in Women’s T20Is. As a result, with 30 such scores, Mandhana now proudly tops the all-time list.
The 2024 season has been a dream for Mandhana. She set the record for most runs scored in a calendar year in Women’s T20Is, surpassing Chamari Athapaththu. She is also one of just four women to score over 700 T20I runs in a single year, placing her in an elite league.
Mandhana’s dominance extends to ODIs, where she has scored four centuries this year—the most by any woman cricketer in 2024. Her tally includes 599 runs in 10 ODIs at an average of 59.90. Additionally, she recorded a memorable Test century against South Africa earlier this year.
Smriti Mandhana’s consistency and ability to break records underline her position as one of the finest batters in women’s cricket today.
