Sri Lanka were set to face Nepal in the 23rd match of the T20 World Cup 2024 at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground in Lauderhill, Florida.
However, the match has been abandoned due to rain. Heavy rainfall in Florida created puddles on the ground, and though the rain briefly stopped around the toss time, the field conditions remained unplayable. When the rain resumed, match officials decided to call the game off.
Qualification Scenario in Group D

This outcome benefits South Africa, who have now become the first team to qualify for the Super Eight stage. With three wins, they sit at the top of Group D.
Sri Lanka’s qualification hopes are now at risk. They must win their remaining match against the Netherlands by a large margin. Additionally, Sri Lanka needs the Bangladesh vs. Netherlands game to be abandoned due to rain. They also need Bangladesh to lose their game against Nepal.
Nepal needs to win both of their remaining games and hope the Netherlands lose their two matches to advance.
