Afghanistan spinner, Noor Ahmad, has received a 12-month ban from the UAE’s ILT20 for violating his player agreement with Sharjah Warriors. The 19-year-old, who played for Warriors in the first season of the ILT20, declined a one-year extension and opted to join Durban Super Giants in the SA20 league.

The stated that it sent Noor Ahmad a retention notice for the second season, outlining the “same terms and conditions” as the initial agreement. When he refused to sign, Warriors brought the matter to the league, leading to the disciplinary committee’s investigation.
The committee, including ILT20 CEO David White, anti-corruption head Col Azam, and Emirates Cricket Board member Zayed Abbas, considered perspectives from both parties. Initially recommending a 20-month ban, they later granted leniency, reducing it to 12 months due to Noor’s status as a minor during the initial agreement and his lack of knowledge about the contract’s terms.
Noor Ahmad had played seven matches for Warriors in the first season, claiming four wickets for 148 runs at an average of 37 and an economy rate of 7.04. This incident follows Naveen-ul-Haq’s ban in December for not signing the retention notice, barring him from ILT20 in 2024 and 2025.
