Hardik Pandya’s fitness has become a major talking point ahead of the crucial Mumbai Indians (MI) vs Chennai Super Kings (CSK) clash in the ongoing IPL season. Former New Zealand fast bowler Simon Doull has ignited speculation, suggesting Pandya, the star all-rounder and MI captain, might be hiding an undisclosed injury.

Doull’s suspicions stem from Pandya’s lack of bowling this season. Despite opening the bowling in the first two matches and taking just one wicket, Pandya hasn’t bowled in subsequent games.
“He bowls in the first game, takes a wicket, and then disappears?” Doull questioned on Cricbuzz. “There is something wrong with him. He is not admitting it. But something is wrong for sure. That’s my gut feeling.”
Pandya’s decision to not bowl against the Delhi Capitals raised eyebrows, with the skipper claiming he would bowl when needed. However, Doull’s comments hint at a potential cover-up.
“All good will be bowling at the right time. Had it covered, so didn’t need to roll my arm over,” Pandya had said in a post-match interview.
Doull’s revelation comes at a critical time for MI, who are facing their arch-rivals CSK. Pandya’s fitness and availability could significantly impact the high-stakes encounter, especially as MI strives to recover from a poor start.
Adding to the concern is the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 in June. Any prolonged absence for Pandya could jeopardize his participation in the prestigious event.
Interestingly, despite Pandya not bowling, MI has managed to stage a comeback, winning two consecutive matches after losing their opening three fixtures.
Will Pandya be fit for the CSK clash? Is he truly hiding an injury? Only time will tell as MI navigates this uncertain situation.
