The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) displayed a dominant performance against the Delhi Capitals (DC) in Kolkata, securing a convincing seven-wicket victory that has propelled them towards the playoffs. Following a string of disappointing losses, KKR bounced back in style, showcasing exceptional bowling skills to restrict DC to a paltry 153 runs in the first innings.

Phil Salt’s explosive knock emerged as the turning point of the match. His blistering innings of 68 runs off just 33 balls transformed the chase into a formality for KKR at Eden Gardens. Even with the pitch conditions becoming trickier after the powerplay overs, KKR cruised to victory with three overs remaining, thanks mainly to Salt’s carnage.
Captain Shreyas Iyer expressed surprise at the significant change in the pitch behavior, noting its unexpected tackiness after the initial powerplay. Despite this challenge, KKR adapted well. Iyer praised his important players, especially Salt and Sunil Narine. He pointed out how Narine does things differently by not going to batting meetings.
Iyer also lauded the exceptional bowling spell delivered by Varun Chakravarthy. This comprehensive victory has instilled a sense of purpose within the KKR camp, and Iyer revealed that the team has already begun strategizing for the playoffs. Currently sitting comfortably in second place on the points table with 12 points from 9 games, KKR has emerged as a strong contender for a coveted top-four finish.
