Quetta Gladiators owner Nadeem Omar praised Watson for his significant contributions to the team, both as a player and as a coach. He extended his best wishes for Watson’s future endeavors, acknowledging the all-rounder’s pivotal role in shaping the franchise’s success over the years.
Watson was instrumental in Quetta Gladiators’ maiden PSL title win in 2019, amassing 430 runs to clinch the ‘Player of the Tournament’ award. Watson transitioned to a coaching role in 2024, guiding the team to the playoffs after a four-season gap.
With Watson’s unavailability, reports suggest the franchise may bring back Sarfaraz Ahmed in a new capacity as head coach. Sarfaraz, a cornerstone of the Gladiators since the tournament’s inception in 2016, went unpicked in the PSL 2025 draft.
