The T20 World Cup 2024 has been challenging for Pakistan under Babar Azam’s captaincy, with losses in both matches played so far. They lost to the USA in a super over and fell short against India in a close match. Shahid Afridi, former Pakistan cricketer, has suggested changes to Pakistan’s lineup, advocating for Fakhar Zaman to open alongside Mohammad Rizwan and for Babar Azam to drop to number three.

“I would like to see Salman Ali Agha come into the side instead of Usman Khan, and Abrar Ahmed to replace Shadab Khan,” Shahid Afridi stated, highlighting specific changes he believes could bolster the team’s performance.
Reflecting on Pakistan’s current situation, Afridi acknowledged the need for tough decisions ahead but remained optimistic about their chances in the tournament.
“Shahid Afridi emphasized that Pakistan still has a chance to progress despite tough conversations and choices ahead.”
Regarding Pakistan’s recent match against India, Shahid Afridi attributed India’s victory to their consistent performance and strong mindset on the field, contrasting it with Pakistan’s struggles in batting.
“The key difference in the game was India’s discipline and attitude, while Pakistan’s batting lineup lacked the power hitting needed,” Shahid Afridi concluded, assessing the team’s performance against their arch-rivals.
