Australia pacer Scott Boland achieved a significant career milestone by securing his maiden 10-wicket haul against India in the fifth Test at Sydney. Boland claimed four wickets in the first innings and followed up with six dismissals in the third, marking a remarkable feat in Test cricket.

Australia continued their dominance over India in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, with the fifth Test highlighting the hosts’ fiery pace attack. In the first innings, Mitchell Starc and Scott Boland spearheaded a dramatic collapse, setting the tone for the game. A similar scenario unfolded in the third innings as India was dismissed for just 157 runs.
Boland’s precision and mastery of movement off the pitch dismantled India’s formidable batting lineup. He delivered his career-best figures of 10/76 across 36.5 overs, becoming only the second Australian bowler, after Glenn McGrath, to achieve a 10-wicket haul at the Sydney Cricket Ground since 1900. His disciplined line and length troubled key batters, including Virat Kohli, who fell to Boland in both innings.
Coming in as an injury replacement for Josh Hazlewood, Boland’s impact has been extraordinary, ending the series with 21 wickets in just three Tests. His timely breakthroughs prevented India from building substantial partnerships, further solidifying his position in Australia’s pace arsenal.
Meanwhile, India’s troubles deepened as skipper Jasprit Bumrah was unable to bowl due to a back spasm. Though he returned to bat on Day 3, Bumrah’s absence with the ball left a significant gap in India’s bowling attack. Australia now requires 162 runs to win, with India’s chances dwindling in the absence of their pace spearhead.
