Rohit Sharma: T20I Centurion Record Holder

The clash between India and Afghanistan marked a historic moment in international cricket, signifying the first match to witness two Super Overs. This achievement mirrors a similar occurrence in the IPL 2020 when Mumbai Indians faced Kings XI Punjab.

The battle in Bengaluru resulted in a remarkable aggregate of 424 runs by India and Afghanistan, ranking as the second-highest in a T20I that concluded with a tie. The record for the highest aggregate stands at 428 runs, set during the 2010 Christchurch T20I clash between New Zealand and Australia, where both teams scored 214.

Rohit Sharma, the prolific Indian batter, showcased his T20I prowess by achieving a milestone of five hundreds in the format. This places him at the top, surpassing the likes of Glenn Maxwell and Suryakumar Yadav. His unbeaten knock of 121 off 69 balls in this match not only secured his highest T20I score but also became the fourth-highest individual score for India in T20Is.

Rohit had initially set the record for the most T20I hundreds in November 2018, securing his fourth century to surpass Colin Munro’s tally of three. Although this record was equaled by Maxwell in November 2023 and Suryakumar in December 2023, Rohit has now reclaimed the top spot.

The partnership between Rohit Sharma and Rinku Singh was nothing short of extraordinary, amassing an impressive 190* runs. This achievement now stands as the highest partnership for India in T20Is, surpassing the previous record of 176 runs set by Deepak Hooda and Sanju Samson for the second wicket against Ireland in 2022. Cricket records, T20I milestones, and historic cricket moments defined this unforgettable match.
