Following Delhi Capitals’ (DC) crushing 106-run defeat against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), captain Rishabh Pant faced criticism for a missed DRS opportunity on Sunil Narine. The incident resulted in Narine going on to play a match-winning knock of 85 runs for KKR.

Despite Pant’s valiant efforts, DC suffered their third defeat in four matches of the IPL 2024 season. KKR, powered by Narine’s heroics, put up a daunting total of 272/7, leaving DC with a mountain to climb.
Taking responsibility for the loss, Pant expressed disappointment in his team’s bowling performance. He acknowledged that the decision to limit spinners due to the high-scoring nature of the pitch backfired as the pacers failed to deliver. “We need to go back and reflect on our mistakes individually,” stated Pant, emphasizing the importance of learning for future matches.
Meanwhile, Sunil Narine, adjudged Player of the Match, showcased his versatility with a crucial batting contribution. He revealed his approach, focusing on maximizing his role when batting while still enjoying his bowling responsibilities. Referring to a lighthearted team joke about his absence from batting meetings, Narine displayed his adaptability: “I’m always ready to contribute in any way the team needs me to.”
Winning captain Shreyas Iyer commended both Narine and young talent Angkrish Raghuvanshi for their outstanding performances. He specifically highlighted Raghuvanshi’s fearless batting and strong work ethic.
