Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) face an early setback in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 as injury concerns have likely ruled out star bowler Shreyanka Patil, according to India Today. This comes as a significant blow for RCB, who are already grappling with multiple injuries ahead of the new season.

Reports suggest that all-rounder Sneh Rana has joined the RCB squad recently. While RCB has yet to make an official announcement, sources indicate that Rana could replace Patil if the team signs a new player. Rana went unsold in the last WPL auction after Gujarat Giants released her, but she now has a chance to return to the league, adding intrigue to RCB’s campaign.
Before her injury was officially confirmed, Shreyanka Patil hinted at her condition through an emotional social media post. She wrote on X (formerly Twitter): “Heartbroken, but I will fly again.” Patil’s absence is a major loss for RCB, as she was the highest wicket-taker in WPL 2024, winning the Purple Cap and playing a key role in RCB’s title-winning campaign against Delhi Capitals.
RCB’s injury woes extend beyond Patil. Asha Sobhana remains out with a knee injury, Sophie Devine has taken a break, Sophie Molineux continues to recover from injury, and Kate Cross has withdrawn for rehabilitation. With these key players unavailable, RCB’s bowling attack, particularly their spin department, looks considerably weakened, posing a tough challenge for their title defense in WPL 2025.
