In a recent development, Rashid Khan has been re-appointed as the captain of Mumbai Indians Cape Town for the upcoming SA20 season. The Afghanistan superstar had led the team in the inaugural season but missed the second one due to injury.

Despite having a strong squad, MI Cape Town finished at the bottom of the points table in the first season under Rashid’s leadership. Last year, they lacked his key presence, especially in the bowling department. With Rashid’s return, MI Cape Town aims to improve their performance after finishing at the bottom in both previous seasons of the SA20.
Rashid brings both experience and leadership qualities, having been a crucial part of Afghanistan’s recent successes. He will now lead a star-studded squad, including top talents like Ryan Rickelton, Dewald Brevis, Ben Stokes, and Trent Boult. His responsibility is to guide the team to a stronger performance, with a particularly potent bowling attack at his disposal.
MI Cape Town’s bowling unit is a key strength, with Rashid, Boult, Kagiso Rabada, and RCB’s Nuwan Thushara forming a formidable lineup. While the team’s batting might seem slightly fragile, the combined experience and potential of the bowlers provide a solid foundation for success.
The third season of the SA20 kicks off on January 9, and with Rashid Khan back at the helm, MI Cape Town will be looking to challenge for the coveted title and improve on their past performances.
