In unfortunate news revealed earlier today, Devon Conway’s participation in the majority, if not the entirety, of IPL 2024 has been ruled out due to a thumb injury sustained during New Zealand’s recent T20I series against Australia.

This development will undoubtedly be a significant setback for MS Dhoni and the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), considering Conway’s pivotal role in the team’s recent successes, notably being named Player of the Match in last season’s final against the Gujarat Titans.
However, amidst this setback, there may be an opportunity for Conway’s compatriot, Rachin Ravindra, who has been garnering attention in recent times.
It is expected that Ruturaj Gaikwad will partner with Ravindra at the top of the order, with Ajinkya Rahane potentially retaining his place at No. 3 despite poor form in the Ranji Trophy 2024. Concerns regarding the fitness of Shivam Dube and Daryl Mitchell should be resolved before the tournament commences.
Additionally, the inclusion of Sameer Rizvi, who has been performing exceptionally well in India’s domestic circuit, could serve as a valuable impact substitution. Ravindra Jadeja and MS Dhoni are expected to fulfill the finisher roles.
Furthermore, Shardul Thakur and Deepak Chahar bolster the bowling department with their consistent performances and IPL experience. Additionally, the dynamic Sri Lankan duo, Maheesh Theekshana and Matheesha Pathirana, are expected to spearhead the bowling attack.
Here’s the proposed strongest XI for the Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2024:
- Ruturaj Gaikwad
- Rachin Ravindra
- Ajinkya Rahane
- Shivam Dube
- Daryl Mitchell
- Sameer Rizvi (Impact Sub)
- Ravindra Jadeja
- MS Dhoni (WK & C)
- Shardul Thakur
- Deepak Chahar
- Maheesh Theekshana
- Matheesha Pathirana
