India’s captain, Harmanpreet Kaur, won the toss and opted to bat first in the fifth T20I against Bangladesh, amidst favorable weather conditions in Sylhet. With India leading the series 4-0, they are eager to maintain their dominance with a clean sweep. Harmanpreet expressed the team’s intention to challenge themselves by setting a target with the bat, particularly after chasing in two of the last three matches.
Bangladesh introduced three changes to their lineup compared to the rain-affected fourth game, bringing in Sobhana Mostary, Sultana Khatun, and Fariha Trisna in place of Habiba Islam, Murshida Khatun, and Marufa Akter. This tactical adjustment left the hosts with only one fast bowler, Trisna, in the playing eleven.
On the other hand, India retained the same XI from the previous match, giving S. Asha and Titas Sadhu their respective second appearances in the series, replacing Shreyanka Patil and Renuka Singh.
With the expectation of a full game after the fourth match was shortened to 14 overs per side due to rain, all eyes are on 20-year-old Shafali Verma, who is playing her 100th international game.
