Following the Gujarat Titans’ (GT) thrilling six-run victory against the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the ongoing IPL 2024, all-rounder R Sai Kishore heaped praise on debutant captain Shubman Gill. During the post-match press conference, Kishore lauded Gill’s leadership qualities, particularly highlighting his maturity despite leading the team for the first time.

Kishore himself played a pivotal role in the win, claiming a crucial wicket – dismissing former MI captain Rohit Sharma for 43 runs off 29 balls. His economical bowling spell of 1/24 kept the pressure on the MI batting line-up.
Kishore went on to commend the GT’s fighting spirit, emphasizing the team’s focus on delivering their best performance irrespective of the final outcome. Despite setting a target of what seemed like a modest 168 runs, the Titans, under coach Ashish Nehra’s guidance, displayed exceptional bowling discipline, restricting the star-studded MI batting line-up to 162 runs. Kishore credited Nehra for fostering a culture of resilience within the team, where every player strives to give their all on the field.
The young all-rounder also shed light on his bowling strategy, discussing how he adapted his approach based on the situation. He explained his tactics when bowling after Rashid Khan, a world-renowned spinner, and how he factored in the potential impact of dew on the pitch later in the innings. Kishore revealed that he focused on varying his pace and exploiting the pitch conditions to his advantage. Interestingly, despite anticipating the dew to significantly alter the match dynamics, he surprisingly found good grip on the ball, allowing him to execute his plans with exceptional effectiveness.
