The Women’s Premier League (WPL) has emerged as a significant turning point for women’s cricket in India, and the 2025 auction continues to carry forward this legacy. Like the IPL, the WPL has the potential to transform the financial landscape and career prospects for female cricketers in India. One of the latest success stories is Prema Rawat, who Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) bought for a staggering 1.2 Crore.

Prema Rawat, an all-rounder from Uttarakhand, has made a name for herself with her impressive skills both as a bowler and a batter. She bowls right-arm leg-spin and is a powerful batter, known for using the long handle effectively. Her ability to perform under pressure makes her a valuable asset, especially in the fast-paced T20 format.
Rawat’s breakout moment came during the Uttarakhand Premier League (UPL), where she shone brightly in the final. Playing for Mussoorie Thunders Women, she played a pivotal role in guiding her team to the title. She first took a crucial wicket with the ball and then delivered an unbeaten 32 runs, including three sixes, in a low-scoring encounter. Her all-around performance in the UPL, where she finished with four wickets, caught the attention of major franchises.
Her base price in the WPL 2025 Auction was just 10 Lakhs, but a fierce bidding war between RCB Women and Delhi Capitals Women pushed her price up to 1.2 Crore. At just 23 years old, Prema Rawat is set to make a significant impact in the WPL and beyond, with her talent now recognized on the biggest stage.
