The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has disclosed the itinerary for New Zealand’s upcoming tour, featuring a five-match T20I series kicking off on April 18. New Zealand’s arrival in Pakistan’s capital is slated for April 14, marking the commencement of the series with three T20 Internationals at Rawalpindi’s Pindi Cricket Stadium on April 18, 20, and 21. Following this, the action shifts to Lahore for the final two T20Is scheduled on April 25 and 27.
This tour signifies New Zealand’s third visit to Pakistan in 17 months, having previously engaged in Test matches and white-ball fixtures across various Pakistani cities.
Usman Wahala, PCB’s Director of International Cricket Operations, voiced contentment regarding the schedule, highlighting PCB’s robust bond with NZC. This series assumes importance as both sides prepare for the ICC T20 World Cup. The camaraderie between the boards underscores the shared commitment to cricket’s global showcase.
Reflecting on past encounters, the Test series between the two teams in 2022-23 concluded in a draw, while New Zealand secured a 2-1 victory in the ODI series. The subsequent T20I series ended in a thrilling draw. However, Pakistan dominated the ODI series with a commanding 4-1 win. Earlier this year, Pakistan faced defeat in New Zealand, losing the T20I series 4-1.
