Champions Trophy 2025 Emergency Meeting Postponed, Now Scheduled for November 30

The PCB, ICC, and BCCI had originally scheduled an emergency meeting for November 29, but they have postponed it to November 30. Reports say the meeting, originally planned for video conferencing, will now occur on Saturday. The reason for the delay remains undisclosed, but PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi is in Dubai, where the ICC headquarters is located.

PCB: Champions Trophy 2025

The meeting has gained significant attention due to the ongoing dispute between the BCCI and PCB over the hosting of the Champions Trophy 2025. The BCCI, led by Roger Binny, has revealed that the Indian government has not granted permission for the Indian team to travel to Pakistan for the tournament. As a result, the BCCI is pushing for a hybrid model, similar to the one used for the 2023 Asia Cup. In contrast, the PCB is determined to host the tournament in Pakistan, which has created a deadlock between the two boards.

This disagreement has caused a delay in finalizing the tournament schedule, affecting the ICC’s ability to communicate with stakeholders. To resolve this, reports suggest the ICC is considering two possible solutions. One option is to host three of India’s group-stage games, one semi-final, and the final in a neutral country, with the UAE being a leading candidate due to its proximity to both Pakistan and India. The second option is that, if India fails to qualify for the knockout stages, both semi-finals and the final could take place in Pakistan.
