Pakistan Players Refuse to Play in BPL Over Unpaid Dues

In a shocking turn of events, several foreign players, including Pakistan’s Mohammad Haris and Aftab Alam, have refused to play in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) due to unpaid dues. Reports from Bangladesh confirm that the foreign players of Durbar Rajshahi, including Ryan Burl, McCauley Cummins, Lahiru, and Mark Doyle, have also decided to boycott the league.

As a result, Durbar Rajshahi had to field a team made up entirely of local players in their last BPL match. The absence of foreign stars forced the team to bring in local players to fill the gaps in the lineup. This incident marks another case of players boycotting matches over unpaid dues, as Rajshahi players had earlier skipped a training session to protest the non-payment of salaries.

The ongoing issue has cast a shadow over the Bangladesh Premier League, and the governing body may take action against the franchise.

Despite the setback, Rajshahi remains in the race for the playoffs, sitting at 4th place in the points table after 11 matches. With 5 wins and 6 losses, the team is still eyeing a spot in the playoffs. In their most recent match, despite the absence of several foreign players, Rajshahi managed to defeat Rangpur Riders by 2 runs. Rajshahi posted a modest total of 118 runs on a difficult pitch, and their bowlers defended the target successfully, dismissing Rangpur for 117 in a thrilling low-scoring encounter.
