Pakistan and Bangladesh Split Points After Match Washout

Pakistan and Bangladesh ended their Champions Trophy campaigns with a point each after their final group match in Rawalpindi was washed out. This was the second consecutive game at the venue to suffer the same fate, following the Australia-South Africa match on Tuesday. No toss was held as rain continued throughout the afternoon, preventing the covers from being removed. The match was officially abandoned at 3:27 PM local time, nearly 90 minutes after the scheduled start.

This washout marked the end of Rawalpindi’s role in the tournament. The venue hosted just one completed match, where New Zealand defeated Bangladesh by five wickets on February 24.

With only one game remaining in Group A, India and New Zealand will face off in Dubai on March 2 to determine the group leader. Both teams have already secured semi-final spots.

Bangladesh finished above Pakistan in the standings on net run rate, with -0.443 compared to Pakistan’s -1.087. Both teams had already been eliminated before this game.

Pakistan’s next challenge is a white-ball series in New Zealand, featuring five T20Is and three ODIs later this month. Bangladesh will return home to host Zimbabwe for three ODIs and three T20Is.
