In a significant shift in ICC rankings, Mohammad Nabi has emerged as the new No.1 allrounder, replacing Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan, who held the position for over five years. Shakib, sidelined due to an eye condition, misses Bangladesh’s white-ball series against Sri Lanka but remains active for Rangpur Riders in the Bangladesh Premier League.

Nabi’s ascent to the top spot follows his outstanding performance in the opening ODI against Sri Lanka, where he scored a remarkable 136. Despite Afghanistan falling short in their chase of 382, Nabi’s century and a wicket propelled him to seventh place in the latest ICC ODI bowlers’ ranking.

The rankings update also highlights Keshav Maharaj’s leadership among bowlers and significant gains by Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga and Dilshan Madushanka. Sri Lanka’s Charith Asalanka and Pathum Nissanka make notable climbs in the batting list. Additionally, in Test bowling, New Zealand’s Kyle Jamieson rises in both bowlers and all-rounders rankings after an exceptional performance against South Africa.
