In the Ranji Trophy 2024 final between Mumbai and Vidharbha, Mumbai’s young batting talent, Musheer Khan, stole the spotlight with a remarkable innings. The presence of cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar at the Wankhede Stadium served as motivation for the 19-year-old Mumbai batsman.
Despite his young age, Musheer Khan displayed maturity by crafting a patient 136 runs, steering Mumbai to a commanding position against Vidarbha. Musheer revealed that he was initially unaware of Tendulkar’s presence but noticed him on the giant screen after reaching his half-century. This realization spurred him on to impress the ‘God of Cricket’ with his performance.
Musheer has been instrumental in Mumbai’s Ranji campaign, delivering standout performances throughout the season. He credited the guidance from senior players like Ajinkya Rahane and Shreyas Iyer for alleviating pressure. Rahane’s support and encouragement during their partnership were particularly noteworthy.
The young batsman emphasized his strategy of batting for long periods and attributed his attacking style to diligent practice. He also expressed gratitude to his brother, Sarfaraz Khan, for backing him after a setback in the first innings.
Currently, Vidarbha faces a daunting task of chasing more than 528 runs to win the match and claim the Ranji title. Mumbai, a historically successful team in the tournament, aims to add another trophy to their collection.
