Until mid-May, MSD was part of the CSK squad for the recently concluded IPL 2024 season. Before the tournament, the legendary wicketkeeper-batter surprised everyone by stepping down as captain, passing the role to rising star Ruturaj Gaikwad.
Freed from his leadership duties, Dhoni scored 161 runs in 11 innings at an astonishing strike rate of 220.54, the second-highest among all batters with more than 100 runs, just behind Jake Fraser-McGurk. However, CSK failed to reach the playoffs after losing to RCB in their final league game on May 18.
MS Dhoni’s recent performance has sparked speculation about his retirement. Many fans and experts believe his last IPL match could be behind him. The question remains: will Dhoni return for another season with the Chennai Super Kings?
