India fast bowler Mohit Sharma has announced his retirement from all forms of cricket, closing the chapter on a career that spanned over a decade across international cricket and the IPL. The 37-year-old pacer, who represented India in 34 international matches, shared the news through an emotional post on Instagram, expressing gratitude to the people who shaped his journey from Haryana cricket to the global stage.

Mohit played 26 ODIs and eight T20Is, picking up 31 ODI wickets and six T20I wickets after making his international debut in 2013. He was part of India’s squad in the 2015 ODI World Cup and earned a reputation as a reliable death-overs specialist, especially during his stint with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) under the leadership of MS Dhoni.
In his farewell message, Mohit thanked his team-mates, coaches, and officials, with a special mention for the Haryana Cricket Association and Anirudh Chaudhry, acknowledging their support and belief throughout his career. He described his cricketing journey—from domestic cricket to wearing the India jersey and competing in the IPL—as a blessing.
Mohit’s IPL career was equally notable. Across 120 matches, he claimed 134 wickets, featuring in every IPL season from 2013 to 2025 except for 2021 and 2022. He represented multiple franchises, including CSK, Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings), Delhi Capitals, and Gujarat Titans. His standout IPL performance came in 2023, when he finished as the second-highest wicket-taker, just behind GT teammate Mohammed Shami.
He also had a steady domestic career with 44 first-class matches for Haryana, taking 127 wickets between 2011 and 2018. Mohit’s final competitive appearance came earlier in 2025 for Delhi Capitals against Punjab Kings before being released ahead of the 2026 auction.
