Mohammad Shami Out of T20 World Cup 2024; Jay Shah Discloses Return Timeline

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary Jay Shah has confirmed that Mohammad Shami will miss the T20 World Cup 2024 due to his ongoing recovery from ankle surgery. Shami’s absence, felt keenly during the recent Test series against England, leaves a void in both the national team and the Indian Premier League (IPL) as he focuses on rehabilitation.

Mohammad Shami last appearance for India was in the ODI World Cup, where his standout performances garnered widespread praise. However, his priority now lies in fully recuperating from his injury, with a potential return slated for the home Test series against Bangladesh later this year.

Updating on Mohammad Shami progress, Shah stated that the surgery was successful, and Shami is back in India, eyeing a comeback during the Bangladesh series. Alongside Mohammad Shami, Shah also addressed the injury status of KL Rahul, who is undergoing rehabilitation after receiving an injection, monitored closely at the National Cricket Academy (NCA).
