Mohammad Kaif, a former cricketer, believes Afghanistan has the potential to win the ongoing T20 World Cup. Led by Rashid Khan, the team has secured three consecutive wins and booked a spot in the Super 8 with aggressive cricket. Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran have excelled with the bat, while Fazalhaq Farooqi’s stellar bowling, taking 12 wickets in three matches, has been crucial.

Kaif highlighted Afghanistan’s current form and their familiarity with West Indian conditions, having spent extensive time there. He emphasized their bowling strength, with Rashid Khan’s exceptional form and Farooqi’s five-wicket haul, alongside the openers’ consistent performances.
“Afghanistan are in great form,” Kaif stated on Star Sports, noting their adaptation to local pitches after avoiding USA matches. “They have a good understanding of the conditions and their players are in top form,” he added.
Ahead of their final group match against West Indies on June 17, both teams vie for the group’s top spot, demonstrating their competitiveness in the tournament.
Rashid Khan, Afghanistan’s captain, echoed confidence in their ability to adapt to diverse conditions, crediting franchise cricket for preparing them well.
