In a recent update, India A has named Mayank Agarwal as captain for the remainder of the Duleep Trophy 2024. Agarwal replaces Shubman Gill, who led India A in their first-round match against India B in Bengaluru. India’s national team has selected Gill for the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh, starting on September 19, 2024, which makes him unavailable for the next Duleep Trophy fixture on September 12.

Agarwal’s inclusion marks a significant shift in the India A lineup, alongside other changes due to national team selections. The national team has selected Dhruv Jurel, KL Rahul, Kuldeep Yadav, and Akash Deep, leaving spots open in the domestic competition.
Akshay Narang, Shaik Rasheed, and Shams Mulani have joined the squad as replacements to strengthen the team. Fast bowler Prasidh Krishna, who missed the first round due to a knee injury, has recovered and will rejoin the squad for the upcoming matches.
The updated India A squad for the Duleep Trophy now includes Mayank Agarwal (Captain), Riyan Parag, Akshay Narang, SK Rasheed, Tilak Varma, Shivam Dube, Tanush Kotian, Shams Mulani, Prasidh Krishna, Khaleel Ahmed, and Avesh Khan. Moreover, these changes highlight India A’s efforts to balance the squad, especially amid key national call-ups, as they prepare for their next match.
