During the tense run-chase against India, Pakistan showed signs of a potential comeback, which had former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar visibly frustrated during his commentary for Star Sports. India eventually secured a narrow six-run victory in the high-stakes, low-scoring match, eliciting relief among Indian experts and fans alike. Despite facing a significant batting collapse, India’s bowlers rose to the occasion with a stellar performance. However, a critical moment in the 18th over left Gavaskar particularly agitated.

Pakistan, chasing a target of 120 runs, had momentarily lost momentum but remained within striking distance, needing 29 runs from 17 deliveries. On the second delivery of the over bowled by Mohammed Siraj, there was a front-foot no-ball. Even though the next free-hit resulted in only two runs, Gavaskar strongly criticized the no-ball on television. He stressed that such mistakes are unacceptable in professional cricket, emphasizing that bowlers can easily control where they stand on the pitch.
Gavaskar’s comments highlighted the frustration over what he considered a mistake that lacked professionalism. This was in contrast to the disciplined bowling performances of Arshdeep Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, and Hardik Pandya, who took wickets during the match.
