Australian cricketer Glenn Maxwell expressed gratitude for the “outstanding” support from the Australian cricket hierarchy following a concerning incident at an Adelaide pub on January 19. Maxwell, who fell unconscious and required hospitalization, acknowledged the impact on his family but emphasized swiftly moving on from the incident.
The all-rounder had a week off, as approved by Australian selectors, during which he focused on his fitness and preparation for upcoming T20 international games. Maxwell, who recently achieved the fastest T20I century on Australian soil, credited coach Andrew McDonald, chair of selectors George Bailey, and others for their support during the aftermath of the incident.
Reflecting on the incident, Maxwell stated that he moved on quickly and returned to training the following Monday. Despite a series of mishaps, including a concussion during the 50-over World Cup and a leg injury in 2022, Maxwell described his life off the field as generally “chill” and highlighted the positive impact of spending quality time with his family. He emphasized that cricket has become enjoyable for him, allowing him to approach the game with a sense of fun and appreciation.
