Lauren Cheatle to Skip WPL 2024 Following Skin Cancer Procedure

A setback has hit Australia pacer Lauren Cheatle, ruling her out of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024, as she underwent a recent medical procedure to address skin cancer on her neck. This development comes despite her noteworthy Test debut against India in December. Lauren Cheatle underwent the necessary treatment on a Wednesday.

The eagerly anticipated WPL 2024, set to commence on February 23 in Bengaluru, will proceed without Lauren Cheatle, the talented left-arm quick signed by the Gujarat Giants during the December auction. Sadly, she will also be absent from the remaining matches of the Women’s National Cricket League for New South Wales.

Lauren Cheatle, who dealt with a similar treatment in 2021, is no stranger to setbacks, having faced injuries like shoulder reconstructions and biceps surgery. Nonetheless, the 25-year-old remains resilient in her cricketing journey. Cricket New South Wales has stated that Cheatle aims to return to training with NSW following the players’ scheduled off-season break. Despite these challenges, her determination shines through, showcasing her commitment to overcoming obstacles in her cricket career.
