Cricket West Indies (CWI) has named a 15-player squad for the upcoming two-match Test series against Bangladesh, set to begin on November 22. Kraigg Brathwaite will lead the side, with wicketkeeper-batter Joshua Da Silva appointed as his deputy. The series will start in Antigua before moving to Jamaica, concluding on December 4.
A significant change in the squad is the absence of all-rounder Jason Holder. Holder, dealing with a shoulder injury, has not fully recovered and will miss the series. The CWI stated that Holder requires more time for rehabilitation. His absence is a blow for West Indies, who will miss his experience in both batting and bowling.
The squad features some fresh faces, including Justin Greaves, who earned his call-up after impressing in the CG United Super50 Cup, scoring three centuries. Kevin Sinclair also returns as a spin option. Shamar Brooks and Alzarri Joseph will lead the West Indies bowling attack alongside the experienced Kemar Roach.
Before the Test series begins, the West Indies team will warm up with a two-day match against a CWI Select XI, starting November 17. The series will be part of a larger schedule that includes two Tests, three ODIs, and three T20Is, giving players multiple opportunities to make their mark.
Currently at the bottom of the World Test Championship (WTC) standings, West Indies will aim to perform strongly in the series. Bangladesh, ranked 8th in the WTC, has been eliminated from contention for the final but will aim to finish the series strongly.
