Keacy Carty and Brandon King’s centuries led West Indies to a dominant eight-wicket victory over England, securing a 2-1 series win at Kensington Oval. Carty’s maiden century, scored off 97 balls, made history as the first cricketer from St Maarten to achieve this milestone for West Indies. He was joined by King, who capitalized on two dropped chances. King scored his first fifty-plus knock in ODIs since the World Cup Qualifier in July 2023. Their 209-run partnership became the highest for West Indies against England in this format.
England’s innings started disastrously, slumping to 24 for 4 by the end of the powerplay. Phil Salt played a resilient knock, scoring 79, while Dan Mousley contributed with a maiden ODI fifty. Despite the early collapse, England managed to reach 263 for 8, aided by cameos from Sam Curran, Mousley, and late hits from Jofra Archer and Jamie Overton.
Chasing a moderate target, West Indies’ openers set the tone early. King smashed Jofra Archer for boundaries, while Carty grew in confidence, steadily ticking the scoreboard over. King reached his fifty off 60 balls, and Carty soon followed with a fifty off 61 balls. King’s aggressive batting continued as he and Carty brought the required rate down significantly. Carty reached his century with a boundary off Jacob Bethell’s spin, while King followed shortly after, bringing up his own hundred.
King was dismissed with 13 runs remaining, but the result had already been decided. West Indies completed the chase comfortably, thanks to the solid foundation laid by their openers, with Carty and King’s centuries sealing the series win.
