In a significant blow for Paarl Royals, English star Jos Buttler will miss the upcoming SA20 season in 2025 due to national commitments. Known for his explosive batting, Buttler has been a key player for the Royals in the tournament. However, he will not be participating next year as he focuses on his duties with the England cricket team.
Recently, Buttler was also sidelined from The Hundred 2024 due to an injury, adding to his challenges.
Buttler announced his withdrawal from SA20 2025 through a video posted on the Royals’ official Instagram page. In the video, he shared his disappointment, stating, “Hi everyone, Jos Buttler here. I’m sorry to say that I won’t be returning to the SA20 this year. My focus will be on some England games instead. It’s a shame I won’t be part of the tournament.”
Buttler’s decision to withdraw is to ensure his availability for England’s tour of India in January, which includes five T20Is and three ODIs. This tour is crucial for England as they prepare for the Champions Trophy in Pakistan next year.
Since the start of the SA20, Buttler has been a vital player for Paarl Royals. He was their leading run-scorer last season, amassing 408 runs in 11 innings at an average of 40.80 and a strike rate of 143.66.
