Bumrah achieved this milestone by dismissing Bangladesh seamer Hasan Mahmud, becoming the sixth Indian pacer to reach 400 wickets. He joins the ranks of legends like Kapil Dev, Javagal Srinath, Zaheer Khan, Mohammed Shami, and Ishant Sharma. Notably, Bumrah is the quickest to achieve this feat, accomplishing it in just 196 matches.

At the international level, Bumrah boasts an impressive average of 21.01 across all formats, coupled with a strike rate of 33.28. His 400th wicket came when he bowled a length ball that appeared to nip back but seamed away, resulting in an outside edge caught by Virat Kohli at second slip.

Bumrah made his mark early in the innings by dismissing Shadman Islam. He then triggered a flurry of wickets alongside Akash Deep, creating chaos among the Bangladeshi batters. He also claimed the wicket of Mushfiqur Rahim, leaving the Bangladesh team struggling in their first innings, trailing by 263 runs and needing 63 runs to avoid the follow-on.
