Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) fined young pace sensation Naseem Shah 10% of his match fee during a Pakistan Super League (PSL) game between Islamabad United and Multan Sultans. Shah’s breach of the PSL code of conduct occurred when he kicked the stumps after Multan Sultans’ innings, constituting an abuse of cricket equipment.
Naseem Shah’s fine stemmed from a violation of Article 2.2, which addresses the misuse of cricket equipment. Shah accepted the charge, leading to sanctions proposed by match referee Roshan Mahanama, obviating the need for a formal hearing. The on-field umpires, Ruchira Palliyaguruge and Muhammad Asif, imposed the charge during the game.
In the Islamabad United versus Multan Sultans encounter, Sultans batted first, with Yasir Khan and Mohammad Rizwan contributing 33 and 20 runs, respectively. Usman Khan’s remarkable 100* off 50 balls, supported by Johnson Charles’ 42 runs, propelled Sultans to a total of 228 runs. Islamabad’s Faheem Ashraf excelled with two wickets, while Naseem and Hunain Shah claimed one each.
In the pursuit of the daunting target, Islamabad United’s Colin Munro’s explosive 84 off 40 balls set the tone. Shadab Khan (54 runs), Faheem Ashraf (23 runs), and Imad Wasim (30 runs) contributed significantly as Islamabad secured victory, chasing down the target and winning by three wickets.
