Ireland has etched its name in cricket history by setting a world record for the fastest hat-trick of Test victories. The team achieved this milestone with a 63-run win over Zimbabwe in the one-off Test in Bulawayo, successfully chasing 292. This marked Ireland’s third Test victory in just ten matches, surpassing South Africa’s previous record of 14 Tests to secure three wins.

Since playing their first Test in 2018, Ireland initially struggled, losing their first seven matches. However, a dramatic turnaround began in 2023, leading to a remarkable hat-trick of wins. Their winning streak started with a six-wicket triumph over Afghanistan in Abu Dhabi, followed by a four-wicket victory against Zimbabwe in Belfast. The latest victory in Bulawayo completed their record-breaking run.
A standout performer in the historic win was left-arm spinner Matthew Humphreys, who delivered his career-best figures of 6-57. His crucial spell dismantled Zimbabwe’s batting lineup, while Andy McBrine sealed the victory by dismissing Richard Ngarava.
From seven straight defeats to a world record, Ireland’s swift rise in Test cricket highlights their growing stature on the international stage.
