The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 is set to begin on Saturday, March 22, with fans eagerly awaiting another thrilling season. The opening match will feature defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) taking on Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the iconic Eden Gardens. KKR will aim to start their campaign with a win, but unpredictable weather in Kolkata could play spoilsport.

According to Accuweather, the temperature on Saturday evening is expected to hover around 30 degrees Celsius. However, there is a 90% chance of rain, raising concerns about a potential disruption. Fans remain hopeful that the weather will hold up, allowing the clash between these two powerhouse teams to proceed without interruptions.
Both KKR and RCB enter IPL 2025 with new captains after releasing their previous skippers. Shreyas Iyer, KKR’s former captain, was acquired by Punjab Kings and has been appointed their new leader. Similarly, RCB parted ways with Faf du Plessis, who was bought by Delhi Capitals and named their vice-captain.
To replace Iyer, KKR handed the captaincy to Ajinkya Rahane, a seasoned campaigner with leadership experience. Meanwhile, RCB entrusted Rajat Patidar with the captaincy, marking a significant promotion for the talented batter.
With both teams adjusting to their new leadership and aiming to start strong, the opening match promises excitement. However, the unpredictable Kolkata weather remains a concern, leaving fans anxious as they await the highly anticipated encounter.
