Kishan’s Century Powers SRH to a Commanding Win Over RR

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) began their IPL 2025 campaign in explosive fashion, defeating Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 44 runs. Ishan Kishan, making his SRH debut, smashed an unbeaten 106 off 47 balls, guiding SRH to 286 for 6. Travis Head (67) and Abhishek Sharma’s quick start propelled SRH to 94 in the powerplay, the fifth-highest in IPL history. Kishan then took over, clobbering six boundaries and sixes in his first 13 balls, announcing his arrival with a 45-ball hundred. His innings powered SRH to within two runs of their own IPL record of 288.

RR’s Chase Falters Early

RR’s chase started poorly, losing Yashasvi Jaiswal and Riyan Parag in the first two overs. Simarjeet Singh dismissed both before Mohammed Shami sent back Nitish Rana, leaving RR at 50 for 3. Travis-Head and Abhishek Fire in Powerplay

Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma’s opening assault had earlier set the tone. Head capitalized on Maheesh Theekshana’s erratic start, smashing a four and six after a no-ball and wide. Abhishek added quick runs before falling for 24 off 9 balls.

Archer’s Nightmare Return

Jofra Archer’s return was disastrous, conceding 76 runs in four overs, the most expensive spell in IPL history. Head punished Archer in his opening over, taking 23 runs, while Kishan later lofted him for a six to reach his fifty. Kishan’s aggressive approach dismantled RR’s bowling, ensuring SRH posted a near-record total.
