Australia captain Pat Cummins has now given Sunrisers Hyderabad a major boost ahead of IPL 2025 by confirming his availability after recovering from an ankle injury. The right-arm pacer, who previously missed the Sri Lanka tour and the ongoing Champions Trophy, has finally resumed training and is well on track to regain full fitness.
Cummins Eyes IPL 2025 Return
Speaking to Cricket.com.au, Cummins revealed that his ankle is improving and that he is targeting IPL 2025 for his competitive return. “The ankle is starting to come good,” he said. “It’s not like a hamstring where you need six weeks to recover. It just needed a bit more rest to settle down, so we ran out of time for Pakistan.”
Cummins emphasized the need to manage the injury carefully. “A bit of a break now should set me up for the next year or so. The plan is to start bowling in the next week, build up gradually, and be ready for the IPL,” he added.

SRH had been eagerly waiting for positive news on Cummins’ fitness. Fortunately, the franchise secured him for a massive ₹20.5 crore in IPL 2024, and he went on to lead them to the final in a remarkable season. Looking ahead to IPL 2025, SRH wisely retained him for ₹18 crore, further cementing his role as a crucial part of their plans.
Cummins’ absence would have been a significant setback for the team, but his confirmation ensures that Sunrisers Hyderabad will have their star pacer and leader ready to go. With his return, SRH will once again be strong contenders for the title in IPL 2025.
