Western Australia’s quest for a hat-trick of 50-over domestic titles has been dealt a blow as Australia allrounder Aaron Hardie has been ruled out of the Marsh Cup final against New South Wales due to a calf injury. Hardie, who experienced calf tightness during WA’s recent Sheffield Shield match against Tasmania. Was hoping to recover in time for the final but has not been deemed fit to travel.
WA, aiming for their third consecutive Marsh Cup title, will also miss Aaron Hardie’s services for his all-round abilities. Despite the setback, WA welcomes the return of four players to their 13-man squad. Jason Behrendorff is back after missing the previous Marsh Cup match due to Australia duty. Joel Paris, a left-arm fast bowler, has been included after not featuring in any Marsh Cup game this season. The squad also features Mahli Beardman, named Player of the Match in the Australia Under-19 World Cup final. And spin bowling allrounder Cooper Connolly, who returns after recovering from a quad strain.

WA, a dominant force in recent Marsh Cup history, is seeking to secure their fifth title in seven years and achieve a historic hat-trick of titles. However, New South Wales poses a formidable challenge, having won their last four matches, including two victories against WA.
The Marsh Cup final, scheduled to be played at Cricket Central in Sydney, marks WA’s fifth consecutive appearance in final. And they aim to emulate the success of NSW, who secured a hat-trick of titles between 2001-2003.
New South Wales has named a settled squad, featuring players who have been instrumental in their recent winning streak. Captain Moises Henriques leads a squad with a mix of experience and emerging talent, including the promising Tanveer Sangha.
The final promises an exciting contest between two strong sides, with WA aiming for a historic achievement, while NSW seeks to maintain their winning momentum and secure the Marsh Cup title.
