India’s head coach, Gautam Gambhir, has returned to India during the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy series due to a personal emergency. Gambhir will miss the two-day pink ball warm-up match in Canberra starting November 30 but expects to rejoin the team in Adelaide before the second Test, beginning on December 6. According to a BCCI official, Gambhir left for India with his family on Tuesday morning after seeking permission from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

The Indian team will travel to Canberra on Wednesday, where they will attend an official reception hosted by Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, marking the welcome for the Indian side in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series.
India’s performance in the first Test in Perth was historic, with stand-in captain Jasprit Bumrah leading the team to a dominant 295-run victory over Australia. After India scored only 150 runs in their first innings, their bowlers dismissed Australia for 104, taking a 46-run lead.
In the second innings, centuries from Yashasvi Jaiswal (161) and Virat Kohli (100*) propelled India to a commanding 487/6. India set Australia a daunting target of 534 runs. Despite a strong counterattack from Travis Head (89) and Mitchell Marsh (47), India’s bowlers, led by Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj, wrapped up the Australian innings for 238, securing a resounding victory.
