India’s captain Harmanpreet Kaur was batting on 88 not out off 83 balls as South Africa prepared to start the 50th over of the innings on Wednesday (June 19) during the second ODI of the multi-format series at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
Kaur reached the three-figure mark in an impressive fashion, smashing a boundary, a six, and another boundary off South Africa’s Nonkululeko Mlaba. Her remarkable display left spectators at Chinnaswamy Stadium in awe.
She progressed to 92 with a superb cut shot past the point region. On the following delivery, she struck Mlaba over deep mid-wicket for a six, needing just two runs to complete her sixth ODI century with two balls remaining.
With a beautiful drive past the cover fielder for four runs on the last ball, Kaur achieved her century and jubilantly removed her helmet in celebration.
India’s entire coaching staff, led by head coach Amol Muzumdar, expressed delight in witnessing Kaur’s outstanding performance, while her teammates gave her a standing ovation in recognition of her achievement.
Kaur’s dazzling century followed Smriti Mandhana’s century in her home ground. With both players’ exceptional performances, India posted a formidable total of 325/3 in the second ODI against South Africa.
