In a major blow for India, wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant was forced to leave the field due to a knee injury during the ongoing Test match against New Zealand. The injury occurred while Pant was keeping to Ravindra Jadeja’s bowling.

The incident took place in the 37th over of New Zealand’s innings. After dismissing Will Young, Jadeja continued to bowl tightly and delivered a sharp-turning ball to Devon Conway. From over the wicket, Jadeja bowled a full-length delivery that pitched outside the off stump and turned sharply into Conway. As Conway attempted an aggressive drive, the ball slipped between his bat and pad, but missed the stumps.
Unfortunately, Pant was struck on his right knee’s unprotected area while trying to collect the ball. He immediately showed signs of discomfort and, after consulting with the team’s physio, hobbled off the field in visible pain.
As a result, India’s reserve wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel stepped in to replace Pant behind the stumps. Pant’s injury comes as a significant concern for India, as his presence behind the stumps and his batting skills are crucial for the team’s performance. The severity of the injury and Pant’s further participation in the match remains uncertain.
