Ricky Bhui Takes Charge as Andhra’s Skipper in Ongoing Group B Match

In a surprising turn of events, Indian cricketer Hanuma Vihari has decided to relinquish the captaincy for Andhra in the ongoing Ranji Trophy. Making way for Ricky Bhui to lead the team in their recent Group B match against Mumbai.
Sources indicate that Hanuma Vihari decision to step down is a personal one. Driven by his desire to concentrate on his batting performance. In the opening game against Bengal, Vihari scored 51 runs in a match that ultimately ended in a draw.
Interestingly, Hanuma Vihari had contemplated a move to Madhya Pradesh before the start of the season. Expressing eagerness to play under domestic coach Chandrakant Pandit in an effort to rejuvenate his international career.
With 16 Test appearances for India, Hanuma Vihari has amassed 839 runs at an average of 33.56, including a century and five half-centuries. His notable performance includes a top score of 111 against the West Indies in Kingston in 2019. Having made his Test debut at The Oval in 2018, his most recent outing was in Birmingham in 2022.
Ricky Bhui, taking over the captaincy, showcased his prowess in the match against Bengal by scoring a remarkable 175. Marking his 15th first-class hundred. A stellar performance gave Andhra a 36-run lead over Bengal, setting a positive tone for their Ranji Trophy campaign.
As Bhui enters his 11th season with Andhra, his leadership and impressive batting display provide the team with a promising start to the tournament.
